Amanda comes from a long line of baseball pedigree — her father was a starting shortstop on his high school team and her brother hit the winning home run in his Little League championship. Still, she came to the sport late, thanks to an early injury sustained during an elementary school game.

Amanda honed her skills throughout her childhood during family kickball games, catch with her little brother Andrew and repeated viewings of “Angels in the Outfield.” In 9th grade gym class, she had her chance to shine when she was tapped to bat fourth during the softball unit. While she never made it to first base, her teacher told her she had the heart of a champion.

Amanda abandoned softball in college for pick-up football games. But she never lost her love of the sport. When Ian Herbert begged her to join the team as second-string catcher, she couldn’t turn him down. As the team’s snack coordinator, she will also make sure all the players are kept full with baseball-shaped cookies and string cheese.

When Amanda is not at the batting cages or practicing her slides, she works for WhoRunsGov.com.
