Beth grew up playing softball in the mean suburbs of the ATL (in the GA) with the local nice-young-ladies in the area. The descendant of a long line of Brooklyn stickball players, Beth quickly moved from outfield to infield, where she enjoyed making diving catches, even when they were not strictly necessary.
Her tendency to make softball a contact sport made Beth a natural choice for catcher once the league switched to fast-pitch. In that position she amassed a number of memorable injuries, including a concussion, a broken finger, a nearly broken collar bone, and countless fat lips and bruises. Her knees have yet to recover.
After two seasons in New York City’s media league on the Random House softball team, Marlowe brought her skills to Washington, D.C. In order to gain softball eligibility, she took a job at WhoRunsGov.com.
