Holly’s first memory of competitive sports is watching fellow pre-schoolers play Red Rover hundreds of feet away. This was because she had an eyepatch, the result of lazy-eye surgery, and the other children feared her.
But despite the heroic efforts of two surgeons, Holly was tragically left with impaired depth perception.
Yet Holly was not one to let a lack of 3-D vision stop her. She bravely ran her car into signs, walls, rocks and vehicles. She stared futilely but determinedly at Magic Eye images. And she courageously used her ocular abnormality as an excuse to join a softball team but never play.
